Harmonica player Richard "Magic Dick" Salwitz, founding member of the J. Geils Band, is scheduled to be interviewed by telephone by host Eli Polonsky at 1:30 PM!
From New London, CT, "Magic Dick" co-founded the J. Geils Band on meeting guitarist Geils and bassist Danny Klein at Worcester, MA Polytechnic Institute in 1968, soon joining Peter Wolf, Stephen Jo Bladd and Seth Justman in Boston for their classic lineup. His powerful harmonica playing was a distinctive sound of the band, and their worldwide tours in the 1970's gave him opportunities to play with blues legends including Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Junior Wells and James Cotton.
Currently, "Magic Dick" performs in occasional J. Geils Band reunions, and is now touring with 24-year-old international guitar and vocal prodigy Shun Ng. The duo will be performing at The Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, MA on Friday, August 7th. Listen for your chance to win tickets!
