Conflict in the Eastern Congo: Father Vincent Machozi Interviewed Live on WMBR's Africa Kabisa Program

Father Vincent K. Machozi will be interviewed live by host Julia Goldrosen starting at 4pm. Since 1998, the raging war in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo has exacted a terrible toll with 5.4 million lives lost and rampant plundering of mineral resources. The past few weeks have seen an escalation of the conflict, with even more death and displacement of the civilian population. Father Machozi will provide an analysis of the complex factors and multinational participants, and discuss what is needed for peace resolution. Father Machozi is an Assumptionist Catholic Priest from Butembo, North-Kivu Province in Eastern Congo. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Social Ethics at Boston University's School of Theology. Prior to coming to the US, he attended the Inter-Congolese dialogue of Sun City, South Africa as an expert of North Kivu civil society.
