Deep Purple's first hit, Hush, was a cover of Joe South's swamp Vegas song made famous by Billy Joe Royal. Joe's tale of uncontainable lust is rooted in blues and gospel songs about the immanence of death and/or swinging Bobby Darin tune. We'll hear a century of versions for two hours. As you might suspect, another Bobby D(ylan) also ripped off this lineage.
