Bill Kirchen has laid an indelible mark in the history of American music. From his early work in the 70's country rock outfit, Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen, to his studio work with Elvis Costello, Gene Vincent and Link Wray. He's toured as one of Nick Lowe's Impossible Birds and released a string of critically acclaimed solo releases that highlight his love of many musical styles born from country, rock, jazz, folk and blues. And let's not forget his impeccable guitar chops.
Kirchen says from his Maryland home, "My sister went to Radcliffe in the late 60s. I use to hitch hike from Ann Arbor to visit her and catch shows at Club 47... There was a lot going on then... It's where I got into the whole folk thing... I have such fond memories of Cambridge."
Kirchen brings his hammer of the honky tonk gods (his 50s Telecaster), his stories of Cambridge in the 60s and other tales from his illustrious career to WMBR's 3 Ring Circus, Friday, February 23rd at 5 pm. Not to be missed.
