"Tell Her No," "She's Not There, and "Time of the Season...all songs written by Rod Argent (later of the band Argent) and sung by Colin Blunstone of The Zombies -- in this writer's opinion one of the topmost of the popmost British bands of the 1960s, along with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Kinks. They began in 1961 in high school, but their "professional" life only lasted from 1964-67 through two albums, an EP, and a bunch of singles (mostly unheralded) before they splintered...shortly before "Time of the Season" became a #1 hit in the US. A remarkable thing about this band is the brilliance of the songs they didn't even release at the time. Taken in one fell swoop via their box set "Zombie Heaven" (1997), their catalog is one heck of a shiny diamond, never given the proper attention when they were around. They reunited in 1999 and have continued on since. Colin Blunstone, the voice of the Zombies, gives us a tour of the sights along the way. The Zombies will be inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in March.
