OK, yeah, there is Terry's persistent identification as the guy who was asked by Jimmy Page to be lead singer during the formation of Led Zeppelin. Needless to say, that didn't happen, but Terry did recommend Robert Plant in his place (as well as drummer John Bonham), indicative of his generosity...and an unfailing (at least public!) refusal to have regrets since. Terry's voice was a thing of wonder...among the best of the era, along with Plant, Paul Rodgers, Jim Morrison, and Steve Marriott. Not a prolific fellow (primarily due to record label difficulties), he nonetheless released five albums from 1968-1979, whose material ranged from soul rockers to rolling jazzy reflections. He knows everyone, is a born storyteller, and lets loose here... as I try to get a word in!
Terry Reid is playing May 12 at Boston's City Winery.
Location: 88.1 FM
