The Rowan Brothers, Chris and Lorin Rowan, will be joining hosts Larry Miller and Eli Polonsky for a live performance and interview beginning at about 12 noon.
Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalists Chris and Lorin Rowan were born and raised near Boston, where their more famous brother Peter was making a name for himself in the band Earth Opera. All three brothers had played in folk, bluegrass and pop bands.
In the early 1970s, Chris and Lorin hooked up with producer and instrumental wizard David Grisman, and moved to San Francisco. One of their first gigs in the Bay Area was opening for The Grateful Dead at the Fillmore West in 1971. Their first album, "The Rowan Brothers", was released in 1972. Musicians on the album included Grisman, drum legend Jim Keltner, and the Dead's Jerry Garcia and Bill Kreutzmann.
The Rowan Brothers have continued to tour extensively in the U.S., Europe and Japan, offering a versatile mix of bluegrass flavored folk and Everly Brothers style rock and country.
