Originally aired:
Multi-instrumentalist (keyboards, percussion, sax, guitar) Edgar Winter is the brother to acclaimed blues-rock guitarist Johnny Winter, father to "Frankenstein," and always ready to rock and roll (he's also always sure to tell you)! Besides that monster 1973 instrumental hit "Frankenstein," "Free Ride" also struck big from the same album, "They Only Come Out at Night." Edgar's bands produced a triumvirate who afterwards would go on to stardom themselves, namely Dan Hartman, Rick Derringer, and Ronnie Montrose. And he's a master cook, mixing the ingredients of rock, blues, jazz and r&b throughout his work.
Edgar Winter appears at the Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, NH on June 23.
Location: 88.1 FM
