Originally aired:
Little Feat coalesced in 1969 (yes, another 50th year celebrant) with two early members of Zappa's Mothers of Invention (Lowell George and Roy Estrada), Richie Hayward of the Fraternity of Man, and keyboardist Bill Payne. George and Payne began as the main songwriters of the signature rock, blues, funk, etc. sound of Little Feat, the former mostly penning the tunes until the fifth LP, at which point Paul Barrere (added to the band in 1972) joined Payne in taking up the slack. Steel guitarist George continued as the primal force until his drug-related death in 1979, but after an eight year hiatus, the Feat returned and have held it together since. They bring their 50th Anniversary party to the Wilbur in Boston on Wednesday, 0ctober 23.
Location: 88.1 FM
