Steven Van Zandt grew up on the Jersey Shore (after moving from Watertown, MA at age seven) with Bruce Springsteen and Southside Johnny Lyon, joining them in the late '60s in various bands before Bruce was signed to Columbia. He joined the E Street Band in 1975 right before Bruce's third album "Born to Run" was released and stayed until just prior to 1984's "Born in the USA," in the meantime writing songs for and producing his compatriot Southside's mid-to-late '70s albums. In 1982 he also delivered the first LP of many by his new band, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. He's long since rejoined the E Street Band, but along the way has made other star turns as Silvio Dante in the hugely successful "The Sopranos" TV series and as host of the nationally syndicated radio show "Little Steven's Underground Garage." A true Renaissance man, Steve joins us to talk about this wonderful life of his. He and his 15-piece Disciples of Soul are playing at Medford's Chevalier Theater on Saturday, November 2nd.
