Originally aired:
Late '70s-early '80s huge pop hit-makers Daryl Hall and John Oates managed to swish six times with #1s (Rich Girl, Kiss on My List, Private Eyes, I Can't Go For That, Maneater, Out of Touch) and sunk some backboard shots for another ten Top 10s. Most of these hit the big time in the '80s. But two indelible lovelies, "She's Gone" (#4) and "Sara Smiles" (#4), are from the previous decade, which is where Hall & Oates began their collaboration in 1970 in Philadelphia...and there are plenty more nuggets from that era as well. John Oates talks of his and Daryl's travels in the '60s and their early career, as well as his latest solo album. Oates appears with his solo band at Boston's City Winery on December 2 (the show was postponed after its original date of November 7).
