You may think it questionable that the PatNauseam theme for Women's Week is about a dude and that it would not pass the Bechdel Test and you'd be right! The title song to the 1954 Nicholas Ray film betrays the fierce independence of Joan Crawford's feminist saloon owner. The lyrics were written by one of pop music's all-time greats, Peggy Lee of "Fever" and "Is That All There Is?" fame. Nonetheless, we take the opportunity to pay tribute to the talents of Lee and Crawford by exploring the myriad versions of this proto-Spaghetti Western song, including many non-English versions.
