Composer Keeril Makan will be interviewed live on WMBR's The New Edge program at around 3pm.
Currently Assistant Professor of Music at MIT, American composer Keeril Makan draws from such diverse sources as American folk music, the European avant-garde, Indian classical music, and minimalism. Mr. Makan has received commissions from the Kronos Quartet, Bang on a Can All-Stars, Paul Dresher Electroacoustic Band, California EAR Unit, and others, and his work has been performed by the New York New Music Ensemble, Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, Either/Or, and Ensemble Nomad.
Paris-based American pianist Ivan Ilic will perform the US premiere of Mr. Makan's composition "Afterglow" on Thursday, Dec 6th at 8pm at MIT's Killian Hall, in a concert that will also feature work by Fernando Benadon, Debussy, Chopin, and Liszt. Admission is free.
