Dave Cousins, founding member and leader of British progressive folk-rock group The Strawbs, is scheduled to join host Eli Polonsky for a telephone interview beginning at about 12:30 PM!
Originally formed in the early 1960's as a London folk group "The Strawberry Hill Boys", by 1967 their name was shortened to The Strawbs, and their music took on a heady, ethereal folk-rock sound. As contemporaries of noted British folk-rock groups Fairport Convention and Pentangle, the late singer/songwriter Sandy Denny of Fairport Convention first recorded an album with The Strawbs in 1967.
With changing lineups alternating acoustic folk-rock and electric progressive rock over the past four decades, The Strawbs have continued to release albums and tour worldwide. Cousins, Dave Lambert and Chas Cronk from the classic 1970s Strawbs lineup will perform an acoustic set opening for the first ever New England appearance of British progressive rock legends Van Der Graff Generator at the Regent Theatre in Arlington on Tuesday, June 23!
Location: 88.1 FM
