Join us on Tuesday morning for two hours of rock and pop music featuring the distinctive sound of the melodica. Yes that thing with the keyboard that you blow into.
Invented in the 1950's, the melodica was mostly used as an instrument for teach music to schoolchildren until it was popularized by in the 1970's by Augustus Pablo, a Jamaican reggae artist. In the 80's it was adopted by a few new wave bands, and over the years its haunting sound has crept into a number of rock, pop, and other indie recordings, many of which we will be hearing on this program.
