Kevin Dunn is a secret hero of underground/alternative/post-punk/new wave music. From his home base in Atlanta, he has been making brilliantly skewed art-pop masterpieces for a quite a while. He also co-produced the first Pylon album and the B-52s "Rock Lobster" 45. His solo music got crazy acclaim back in the day, but has been unavailable for a long time. A recent anthology, entitled "No Great Lost: Songs, 1979-1985," has reintroduced him to a new generation of fans, and has been written up admiringly in places like Pitchfork, Mother Jones, and the Village Voice (more info is here).
In celebration of the anthology's warm reception, Dunn is undertaking his first northeastern tour in thirty years or so! His first stop in Boston since his seminal band The Fans played the Rat in the late '70s is happening at the Lily Pad on Friday, September 17 at 7pm, with special guests Cotton Candy (featuring Evelyn Hurley of Blast Off Country Style and Mark Robinson of Unrest/Air Miami/Teenbeat) and One Happy Island.
Kevin will appear on this morning's Breakfast of Champions program for a live performance and interview shortly after 9am.
Location: 88.1 FM
