Boston blues legend James Montgomery is scheduled to join host Eli Polonsky live in the studio for an interview and to play some acoustic blues beginning shortly after 12:30 PM!
James learned from blues masters including James Cotton, Jr. Wells and John Lee Hooker while growing up in Detroit in the '60s, and formed the James Montgomery Blues Band while attending Boston University in 1970. They have been recording and touring for forty years. Some other blues and rock greats that James has performed or toured with include Johnny Winter, Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, The Allman Brothers, Steve Miller, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Laverne Baker, Patti LaBelle, Peter Wolf, Mick Jagger, and many others.
In 2001, James co-founded The Reel Blues Fest, a non-profit organization benefiting musicians health care and providing support for musical documentary filmmakers. This years Fest concert, honoring 95 year old Delta blues pioneer David "Honeyboy" Edwards, is Friday, October 8 at the House Of Blues in Boston. Edwards will be joined onstage by James and an all-star lineup of musicians. Listen for more information, and for your chance to win tickets!
