Beatles soundalikes from around the world are featured on Paul McCartney's 70th birthday (and DJ Lawrence Azrin's birthday too!). You know the Knickerbockers, but there were many other fine groups inspired by the Beatles globally influential sound from early 1964 and beyond, including the Flaming Groovies, Remains, Rationals, Gants, Left Banke, The Guess Who, The Clefs Of Lavender Hill, and many others. There's British Invasion groups such as The Swinging Blue Jeans and The Hollies, and then there's foreign groups around the world, such as the Easybeats (Austalian), The Motions (Dutch) , and Los Shakers (Uruguay).
Lawrence will also be playing some songs written by Lennon-McCartney, but not recorded by the Beatles themselves, as well as a few "unusual" Beatles covers.
Requests are welcome, especially E-mail requests sent in advance. The more obscure, the better!
Location: 88.1 FM
