Legendary pop/folk singer-songwriter Melanie is scheduled to be interviewed by telephone by host Eli Polonsky at 1:30 PM!
From Queens, NY, Melanie sang in the folk clubs of Greenwich Village in the mid '60s. Her first releases were popular in Europe, and her American breakthrough was the 1969 Woodstock festival where her warm reception by the audience who lit candles, matches and lighters as she performed during a rain shower inspired her Top Ten hit "Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)" the following year. Melanie performed at other major festivals including Strawberry Fields, Isle of Wight and Glastonbury Fayre, and at anniversaries of the festivals decades later.
Following more major hits in the early '70s and songs covered by major artists and used in international television commercials and programs, Melanie continued to tour worldwide, and has released three dozen albums to the present. Melanie will perform at The Center for Arts in Natick Thursday, December 4, and Tupelo Hall Londonderry, NH Friday, December 5. Listen to to win tickets to the Natick show!
Location: 88.1 FM
